The CIVIEMME-SYSTEM post press equipment behind a Komori System 38D web press consists of one ST 420 vertical log stacker and one PL 86 log palletizer.
After running through the central waste ejection system, the merged shingled streams of untrimmed products of the two folder deliveries are directed via floor conveyors into either an RS 36 indexing stacker or into an ST 420 vertical log stacker. Products that are directed into the indexing stacker can also be directed into a rotary trimming line for three-sided trimming. Untrimmed products that run into the ST 420 vertical log stacker are turned into logs. The logs are placed onto a pallet by a PL 86 log palletizer and are perfectly suited for feeding into a saddle stitcher or perfect binder.
Thanks to modern technology and by taking advantage of gravity, the shingled stream of untrimmed products is processed very gently in the ST 420. Especially for large formats or very thin products, vertical log stacking technology is the optimal solution. The infeed of the ST 420, equipped with automatic stream aligners and squeeze rollers, in conjunction with the floating stacking head and its adjustable belts ensures a high quality log building process. The self-adjusting descent speed of the log guarantees the gentle and virtually pressure-less processing of the signatures. The open design of the log building area allows for optimal visual monitoring and easy accessibility by the operator.
Logs up to a length of 1200 mm are compressed, strapped and transported to the directly coupled PL 86 log palletizer. The PL 86 picks up the logs with its pneumatic clamp from the delivery table and places them precisely onto the pallet. The clamped locks can be rotated 90°, 180° and 270° to fully utilize the available space on the pallet and to avoid the necessity of further log rotation in bindery. The flexible and space-saving construction of the vertical log stacker and the log palletizer guarantees the optimal integration of the machines into the press room as well as into the existing RIMA-SYSTEM post press equipment
