3x manroland Lithoman IV, 80 pages, 42.500 cph
Commercials and signatures for the bookbindery in A3 and A4 format
The CIVIEMME-SYSTEM post press equipment behind three Lithoman IV web presses consists of floor and overhead conveying systems as well as six ST 420 vertical log stackers.
Behind each of the three Lithoman IV web presses the shingled streams from two A4 and two A3 folder deliveries are merged. Start-up, blanket wash and splice waste of each folder is ejected via a waste ejection system. Overhead conveyors transport the untrimmed products into the ST 420 vertical log stackers which turn the shingled streams into logs of a length of up to 1200 mm. The compressed and strapped logs from two log stackers are directed via a shared conveying belt to the pick-up station of a palletizing robot. The logs are automatically picked-up by the robot and are placed onto the pallet according to preset packing patterns.
Alternatively, the products from two of the twelve folder deliveries can be directed into two rotary trimming lines for threesided trimming. After trimming, both shingled streams are transported into two stackers which turn the products into stable stacks. The stacks can optionally be cross-strapped before they are delivered to the palletizing robot.
Logs that are built in the ST 420 log stackers run particularly well in saddle stitching or perfect binding lines. Thanks to modern technology and by taking advantage of gravity, the shingled stream of untrimmed products is processed very gently. Especially for large formats or very thin products vertical log stacking offers advantages in comparison to alternative stacking technologies. The virtually pressure-less processing of signatures is ensured by the floating stacking head with its adjustable belts and by the automatic variable build rate of the log itself.
The openly designed log building area ensures the visual monitoring of all processes and guarantees easy and fast access for the operator. Thanks to the space-saving and flexible construction, all six ST 420 log stackers could be installed in a row and are located near to the control panels of the three web presses. So, all three web presses as well as the log stackers can be monitored and adjusted with minimum staffing.
