16.06.2008 - RS 655: Innovative log palletizer

Cost-effectiveness, flexibility and intuitive operation are the demands on modern log palletizers. Therefore, future-oriented printing plants ask for fully automated palletizing solutions to replace the time and cost intensive semi-automated palletizing. Because of decreasing cycle times, the finished logs have to be placed quickly but still safely and precisely onto the pallets. Flexibility regarding packing patterns and an intuitive operator interface is as important as an easily accessible palletizing area.

RIMA-SYSTEM presents the new RS 655 palletizer which is specially designed for installation behind the RS 610 log stacker. The compact but open design is one of the outstanding features. Instead of a mounted iron grid, the palletizing area is secured by safety light barriers. This allows for a better visual monitoring of the palletizing process, consumes less space and simplifies the pick-up of full pallets. Furthermore, the RS 655 with its new vertical axis technology is well-suited for operation in production rooms with low ceilings. The gripper runs between two permanently mounted slide rails, so that no machine parts move beyond the upper outline of the palletizer. The RS 655 is operated via an intuitive operator panel.

The RS 655 can be upgraded with specific options, which include :

• the 90° (left/right) and 180° rotation of the logs to ensure a fast and easy subsequent processing on perfect binders and saddle stitchers,
• the integration of an automated slip sheet feeder to increase the stability of the pallets and
• the outstanding possibility of putting two logs, each with a length of 600 mm, together end to end onto the pallet.
